Their work spans companies, investors, government agencies, and civil society organizations, driven by a strong belief in the importance of effective public policy. This is an exciting new role created in response to the increasing political focus on the energy transition and decarbonization of industry. We are seeking a dynamic and commercially savvy leader to join their team as the Director of Energy and Net Zero Policy. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and delivering actionable advice that aligns with the expectations of policymakers while addressing the realities for businesses adapting their operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide expert, strategic, and actionable advice to clients on the risks and opportunities arising from regulation and political developments in the energy transition, climate, and sustainability sectors.
  • Tailor advice to a diverse range of clients, including financial institutions, fund managers, energy majors, multinational manufacturers, and technology startups.
  • Enhance the company’s suite of products and services, developing new approaches to attract potential clients and leading campaigns and pitch processes.
  • Deepen expertise in key areas such as state aid policies and pursue advisory mandates alongside senior leadership.
  • Work with existing clients on sustainability, ESG, disclosures, and industrial strategy mandates, contributing to their success.
  • Coach and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  • Build and maintain relationships with a wide network of stakeholders, including businesses, policymakers, and trade bodies.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in policy agendas and political dynamics driving initiatives such as the UNFCCC or European Green Deal.
  • Proven track record of effective team leadership and development in a diverse multinational environment.
  • Personal drive and commercial awareness to execute growth strategies with strong support from the wider team and external partners.
  • Background in public sector policymaking and/or private sector policy advice, preferably within consultancies or related organizations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in Arabic is highly desirable.
