Director – ESG Rating Advisory, Banking, London, UK

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the ESG Rating Advisory function, providing strategic direction and oversight in developing and implementing ESG rating methodologies and frameworks.
  • Advise internal stakeholders, including investment teams and portfolio managers, on integrating ESG ratings and analysis into investment decision-making processes.
  • Conduct thorough ESG assessments and analysis on companies and industries, evaluating environmental, social, and governance risks and performance.
  • Collaborate with external ESG rating agencies to ensure accurate and up-to-date ESG data and ratings for investment analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Stay abreast of global ESG trends, regulations, and emerging standards, providing guidance on their implications for the bank’s ESG rating and sustainability practices.
  • Educate and train internal teams on ESG ratings and factors to enhance ESG integration and awareness across the organization.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, industry groups, and clients to promote the bank’s ESG ratings and sustainability analysis expertise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Finance, Sustainability, Environmental Studies); advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in ESG ratings, sustainability research, or similar roles within the financial sector, preferably within a large banking institution.
  • Strong knowledge of ESG frameworks, rating methodologies, and relevant standards (e.g., SASB, TCFD, UN SDGs).
  • Proven experience in advising on ESG integration and providing ESG rating analysis for investment decision-making.
  • Excellent understanding of financial markets, investment strategies, and portfolio management practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct comprehensive ESG assessments and provide meaningful insights to support investment strategies.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities, with the capacity to engage with internal teams, clients, and external partners.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, delivering high-quality results within tight deadlines.
  • Professional certifications related to sustainability (e.g., CFA, SRI, CSR) would be an asset
