ESG Director – Real Estate Services, New York, USA

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a comprehensive ESG strategy focused on sustainability, energy efficiency, emissions reduction, and governance practices tailored to real estate.
  • Work with internal teams (e.g. property management, asset management) and third-party consultants to integrate sustainability into the asset lifecycle.
  • Lead the collection, benchmarking, and reporting of ESG data, ensuring compliance with frameworks such as GRESB and ISSB.
  • Monitor ESG regulations and ensure adherence to local, regional, and national climate-related disclosure guidance and/or requirements.
  • Lead ESG communications and engage with tenants, investors, and stakeholders to enhance social value and support sustainability goals.
  • Provide ESG training to internal teams, fostering a culture of sustainability and accountability.
  • Oversee climate risk assessments and integrate risk mitigation strategies into business operations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in ESG, sustainability, or corporate responsibility, preferably within the real estate or property services industry.
  • Strong knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks (e.g. GRI, CDP, GRESB) and ESG data tools.
  • Experience with building performance, green certifications (e.g. LEED, BREEAM), and climate risk assessments in a real estate context.
  • Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Real Estate, Business, or a related field; an advanced degree or certification (e.g. CFA ESG, LEED AP) is a plus.
  • Proven track record of influencing senior stakeholders and managing cross-functional projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • An analytical mindset with the ability to transform data into insights and action plans.
  • Familiarity with evolving ESG regulations in the US and global real estate markets.
