Job Description

We are partnering with a leading global carbon trading organisation in the Global Voluntary Carbon Market to recruit a Global Sales Carbon Trader based in London. This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled and motivated professional with experience in carbon trading to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of sustainability. In this position, you will focus on driving growth in the voluntary carbon markets, building lasting client relationships, and contributing to the global efforts of mitigating climate change.

As a Global Sales Carbon Trader, you will be tasked with expanding and managing the company’s carbon trading operations. Your expertise will be central to identifying and capitalising on trading opportunities, managing high-value client relationships, and ensuring seamless execution of deals in line with the organisation’s sustainability goals. This role offers you the chance to make a meaningful impact within an industry focused on reducing carbon emissions and advancing global sustainability. You will have the autonomy to manage your portfolio and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Job Responsibilities

  • Carbon Credit Trading: Identify, negotiate, and execute trading opportunities within the voluntary carbon market, focusing on high-quality carbon credits and strategic back-to-back deals globally, including the voluntary markets in the UK, Europe, the US, and Asia.
  • Client Acquisition and Relationship Management: Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including project developers, regulatory bodies, financial institutions, and trading houses.
  • Market Research and Analysis: Continuously assess market trends, regulatory developments, and evolving industry dynamics to ensure the business stays ahead in the carbon market. Provide clients with relevant market intelligence and insights.
  • Deal Negotiation and Execution: Oversee the entire deal lifecycle from identifying potential counterparties to executing contracts and ensuring compliance with market standards.
  • Strategy Development and Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal teams to develop and refine market strategies that align with client needs and company objectives.
  • Risk Management: Apply a structured approach to risk management throughout the trading process, ensuring high-quality transactions and client satisfaction.
  • Industry Engagement: Represent the organisation at industry events and forums to strengthen relationships with key players and enhance the organisation’s profile in the carbon trading market.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in carbon trading or sales within the voluntary carbon market (VCM), with a strong understanding of carbon credits, environmental certificates, and market regulations.
  • Proven ability to identify and execute high-value trading opportunities while maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills to effectively engage with senior stakeholders, clients, and industry leaders.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to stay ahead of market trends and regulatory changes affecting the carbon market.
  • Self-starter with a performance-driven approach and the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
  • Passion for sustainability, climate action, and driving positive change in the voluntary
