Location: Frankfurt, Germany, One day per week working from home
Experience Required: 5–7 years
Salary Range: €80,000 – €110,000 depending on experience

Our clients operates Pv and BESS assets across Europe and is expanding within its existing markets, including Germany.

Role Overview

The Origination Manager will originate, structure and negotiate PPAs and BESS optimisation agreements with German utilities, industrial offtakers and traders. The position is central to developing long-term commercial strategies and maximising value of assets across Germany.

Job Responsibilities

  • Define the PPA and BESS origination strategy for Germany for the clients portfolio of assets (PV assets and hybrid PV + storage systems, BESS)
  • Manage the origination process in line with corporate strategic objectives (price hedge and portfolio optimisation on operational assets, project financing and value creation maximisation on new assets)
  • Develop relationships with German utilities (e.g., Stadtwerke), corporates, traders and aggregators.
  • Lead full-cycle negotiation: pricing, terms, legal structure for power purchase agreements (PPAs), BESS Optimisation agreement and other energy management optimisation contracts
  • Collaborate with legal and finance teams to structure competitive, bankable deals aligned with company risk and return thresholds
  • Support middle office and market analysis team on pricing, competition analysis, product structuring and risk management.
  • Support internal departments on project valuation, budgeting, risk assessments and regulatory analysis.
  • Participate in conferences and networking events to gain market insights and foster business relationships.
  • Stay current with German regulation: EEG, grid connection rules, trading markets.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders—developers, utilities, regulators, investors, and community partners—to facilitate contract closing success.
  • Represent the organisation in industry forums, policy discussions, and partnership negotiations.

Qualifications

Hard Skills

  • Demonstrated success in negotiating and closing renewable energy contracts 
  • Strong experience negotiating PPAs in Germany.
  • Deep understanding of the German energy market, regulation and pricing mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with financial modeling tools and project valuation metrics (e.g., IRR, NPV, LCOE).
  • Established network within utilities, corporate offtakers, and renewable developers.
  • Experience with hybrid/BESS projects is a plus.
