Job Description

A prominent renewable energy investment fund is seeking a highly skilled Renewable Energy Development Director. This role is integral to the fund’s growth, focusing on identifying, evaluating, and executing investments in renewable energy projects. The Director will lead the development of investment strategies and oversee both the financial and technical aspects of projects, including solar, wind, hydroelectric, and other clean energy initiatives. This position offers the opportunity to drive the transition to sustainable energy while generating strong returns for the fund’s stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development: Design and implement the fund’s renewable energy investment strategy, identifying high-potential projects and emerging markets to target for growth. This includes prioritising specific energy sources, such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power.
  • Project Evaluation: Conduct a detailed analysis of potential renewable energy projects, evaluating their technical feasibility, financial viability, and alignment with the fund’s long-term goals and return expectations.
  • Deal Execution: Lead the acquisition and financing processes for renewable energy projects, from initial discussions to final agreements, ensuring projects meet both the technical and financial criteria required for successful investment.
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee the performance of the fund’s renewable energy investments, ensuring projects remain on track, on budget, and deliver optimal returns.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess risks associated with renewable energy investments, including market, regulatory, and operational risks, and implement mitigation strategies to protect the fund’s interests.
  • Market Expertise: Stay up-to-date with global market trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in renewable energy technologies to ensure the fund’s investments remain competitive and future-proof.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years in renewable energy development, project finance, or investment, with significant exposure to large-scale projects in solar, wind, hydroelectric, or other clean energy sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage senior stakeholders, and drive projects from conception to completion.
  • Strong background in financial modelling, investment analysis.
  • A degree in Renewable Energy, Engineering, Finance, Business, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is desirable.
  • In-depth understanding of renewable energy regulations, both in the UK and internationally, with the ability to navigate complex legal and compliance landscapes.
  • Proven project management skills, including budgeting, timeline management, and risk assessment, particularly in renewable energy projects.
