Job Description

We are seeking a Sustainability Investing Lead to join a forward-thinking, mission-driven investment firm committed to integrating sustainability into every aspect of its investment strategy. This pivotal role will focus on shaping the firm’s responsible investment approach, driving the integration of ESG principles across its multi-asset portfolios. As part of a dynamic team, you will have the opportunity to act as a strategic advisor, influencing investment decisions and ensuring that sustainability remains at the forefront of their investment process.

Your expertise in sustainable investing will be key in developing strategies that align with both long-term financial performance and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals. You will help steer the organisation towards a future where ESG factors are seamlessly embedded into their investment frameworks, providing a significant impact on their investment strategy and overall business growth.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and continuous enhancement of the firm’s sustainable investment strategy, ensuring that it aligns with both business objectives and sustainability goals.
  • Integrate ESG factors such as climate risk, social impact, and biodiversity into strategic investment models, helping drive better financial and sustainability outcomes.
  • Conduct cutting-edge research on sustainability megatrends, emerging regulations, and market risks, producing insights that guide the investment decision-making process.
  • Collaborate with investment and risk teams to incorporate climate scenario modelling and transition risk into their overall investment strategy.
  • Support the development of investment outlooks, helping to understand how ESG factors impact return expectations, volatility, and asset class correlations.
  • Lead the integration of ESG analysis into investment due diligence processes, investment committee discussions, and ongoing portfolio management.
  • Monitor global and regional regulatory changes, ensuring the firm’s sustainability practices are always compliant with evolving standards, particularly within the UK, EU, and global markets.
  • Act as an ambassador for sustainability within the business, educating internal teams on ESG principles and encouraging a culture of responsible investment.
  • Contribute to the creation of client-facing materials, reports, and presentations that clearly communicate how ESG factors influence investment strategies and outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in investment management, with at least 5 years focused on ESG, sustainable finance, or impact investing.
  • Strong expertise in multi-asset investing, with a solid understanding of ESG frameworks, regulations, and trends.
  • Proven track record of working with multiple stakeholders in an investment-focused environment, and experience in managing complex projects with cross-functional teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of the global ESG/impact investment landscape, with a well-established network within the ESG community.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex sustainability issues in a clear, concise, and actionable manner.
  • A proactive, results-driven mindset with the ability to influence stakeholders and lead projects in a matrixed environment.
