Sustainability Risk Manager, Investment Bank, London, UK

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the bank’s sustainability risk management framework, policies, and procedures to identify, assess, and manage environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks within the organisation.
  • Conduct comprehensive ESG risk assessments across the bank’s operations, products, and investment portfolios, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and international sustainability standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability risk considerations into the bank’s decision-making processes, including investment analysis, due diligence, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Stay abreast of evolving ESG regulations, frameworks, and industry best practices, and provide guidance and recommendations to senior management on emerging sustainability risks and opportunities.
  • Develop sustainability risk reporting and disclosure frameworks, communicating the bank’s sustainability risk profile to internal stakeholders, clients, and regulatory bodies.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, investors, and industry networks, to promote sustainable finance practices and foster transparency and accountability in sustainability risk management.
  • Conduct training and awareness programs to enhance sustainability risk awareness among employees and promote a culture of responsible banking.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Sustainability, Environmental Science, Finance, or Risk Management. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Significant experience in sustainability risk management, environmental or social risk assessment, or ESG integration within the financial sector, preferably within an investment bank or asset management firm.
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability frameworks and standards (e.g., TCFD, SASB) and regulatory requirements related to sustainable finance.
  • Familiarity with financial products, investment processes, and risk management frameworks within the banking industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement sustainability risk management strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex sustainability risks and develop practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage with internal and external stakeholders at various levels.
  • Proficient in sustainability risk reporting and disclosure frameworks, including sustainability performance metrics and indicators.
  • Passion for sustainable finance and commitment to driving positive environmental and social impact through responsible banking practices.
