Job Description

A leading FMCG retail company in Montreal is seeking an experienced ESG Reporting Manager to join their team and help drive the development and execution of their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy. The ESG Reporting Manager will play a critical role in overseeing the company’s ESG reporting processes, ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory frameworks, and driving transparency and accountability across all sustainability initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • ESG Reporting Development: Lead the development and execution of the company’s ESG reporting strategy, ensuring alignment with key regulatory standards such as CSRD, NFRD, ESRS, and the EU Taxonomy.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of ESG data across the company’s operations, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to global reporting standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with the latest developments in ESG regulations and ensure the company remains compliant with national and international reporting requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with various internal teams, including legal, sustainability, and finance, to align ESG goals and reporting initiatives. Act as the primary point of contact for ESG-related reporting matters.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvements in ESG reporting processes and systems, identifying opportunities for greater efficiency, transparency, and data accuracy.
  • Strategic Insight: Provide strategic insights and guidance to senior management based on ESG performance data, helping to inform decision-making and future sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Administration, or a related field. A postgraduate qualification (e.g., MSc, MBA) in a relevant discipline would be a distinct advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years of experience in ESG reporting, sustainability, or related roles, preferably within the FMCG or retail industry. ESG consulting is accepted
  • Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD, CSRD, NFRD) and regulatory standards. Proficiency in data analysis, reporting tools, and sustainability software.
  • Analytical & Communication Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into clear, actionable reports. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a strong attention to detail and a focus on meeting deadlines.
  • Passion for Sustainability: A genuine interest in environmental sustainability and a commitment to advancing ESG initiatives within the retail industry.
