Job Description

A global sustainability advisory firm is seeking a forward-thinking Sustainable Finance Consultant to join their New York office. This is a mid-to-senior level opportunity for a results-oriented professional with a solid foundation in financial services and a strong interest in accelerating the transition to a sustainable economy.

As a key member of the advisory team, you will work directly with banks, asset managers, and financial institutions to design and implement ESG, climate risk, and responsible finance strategies. The role involves both hands-on project delivery and client relationship development.

Job Responsibilities

Sustainable finance advisory

  • Deliver client-facing consulting projects on ESG integration, climate risk, net-zero strategy, and green or transition finance
  • Support the development of sustainable finance frameworks, disclosures (e.g. TCFD), and investment-grade solutions for institutional clients
  • Contribute to client engagement, proposal writing, and knowledge development

Regulatory insight and financial integration

  • Support clients in responding to evolving sustainable finance regulations and frameworks (e.g., ISSB, EU SFDR)
  • Integrate ESG metrics into risk management and investment decision-making processes

Thought leadership and market awareness

  • Monitor market trends and innovations in climate finance, ESG investment, and sustainability reporting
  • Contribute to white papers, internal tools, and industry engagement activities

Project coordination and collaboration

  • Work with senior consultants and technical specialists across sustainability, climate modelling, and ESG strategy
  • Coordinate project timelines, deliverables, and communication with client teams

Qualifications

  • 5–6 years of experience in sustainable finance, ESG advisory, responsible investment, or financial services consulting
  • Strong understanding of how ESG and climate considerations affect financial institutions, capital markets, and portfolio management
  • Practical knowledge of sustainable finance regulations and reporting standards (e.g., ISSB, TCFD, EU Taxonomy, SFDR)
  • Experience delivering client-facing work, ideally in a consulting, finance, or ESG research environment
  • Degree in finance, economics, sustainability, public policy, or a related discipline
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external clients
