Job Description

EnableGreen is proud to be partnering with a pioneering climate investment firm to appoint a Sustainable Finance Director based in London. This role sits at the intersection of finance, sustainability, and impact strategy—designed for a results-oriented leader who thrives on shaping ESG investment frameworks and directing capital towards a low-carbon, inclusive economy.

You will lead sustainable finance mandates across institutional investors, asset managers, and portfolio companies, with a strong emphasis on scaling climate-aligned lending, green bonds, and ESG-linked instruments. Acting as a trusted advisor and innovator, you will guide clients through the evolving global taxonomy of sustainable finance, translating regulation into opportunity and insight into action.

This is a strategic and hands-on role that offers the chance to influence both the direction of financial innovation and the pace of global sustainability transitions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Strategic leadership: Drive the growth of the sustainable finance division, overseeing the design and delivery of ESG-aligned financial strategies for clients across private equity, private credit, and institutional investment.
  • Transaction design: Structure and execute sustainability-linked loans, green bonds, social instruments, and transition finance tools in alignment with client goals and global frameworks.
  • Regulatory advisory: Provide deep expertise on frameworks such as the EU Taxonomy, SFDR, SDR, ISSB, and emerging ESG disclosure standards to inform clients’ risk, compliance, and product positioning.
  • Client engagement: Lead senior-level relationships with fund managers, boards, and finance executives to align ESG outcomes with business growth and value creation.
  • Innovation & market intelligence: Champion thought leadership through research, publications, and representation at industry events. Spot emerging market trends and integrate them into service development.
  • Product development: Collaborate cross-functionally to co-create scalable solutions—integrating advisory, data, and software—to deliver impact and reporting efficiency for clients.
  • Team leadership: Manage and mentor a high-performing team of consultants and analysts in London and internationally, fostering a culture of rigour, growth, and sustainability excellence.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in sustainable finance, investment banking, project finance, or a related financial field, ideally with exposure to climate finance or ESG mandates.
  • Proven track record in leading complex financial transactions with sustainability outcomes or ESG-linked KPIs.
  • Strong technical knowledge of sustainable finance frameworks, including ICMA Principles, CBI standards, blended finance structures, and impact investing practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership in client-facing roles, with ability to manage senior relationships and drive commercial growth.
  • Advanced degree in finance, economics, sustainability, or related discipline; CFA or equivalent professional qualifications are highly desirable.
  • Exceptional analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills with a collaborative mindset.

What the organization offers

  • A senior leadership platform to drive financial innovation for climate impact.
  • Access to pioneering clients at the forefront of clean energy and sustainable investing.
  • A flexible hybrid working model with international exposure and cross-sector engagement.
  • Opportunities to influence policy, participate in ESG coalitions, and publish thought leadership.
  • A purpose-driven, values-led environment committed to equity and long-term sustainability.
  • £120,000 – £160,000 per annum, plus bonus and performance incentives.
