Impact Investment Director, Private Equity, London, UK

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of the impact investment strategy for the private equity firm, aligning investment decisions with the firm’s social and environmental goals.
  • Identify and evaluate investment opportunities that generate both financial returns and measurable positive impact across various sectors such as sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy, healthcare, education, and social enterprises.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence on potential investments, assessing their financial viability, impact potential, and alignment with the firm’s impact thesis.
  • Manage the full investment lifecycle, from deal sourcing and negotiation to portfolio management and exit strategies, ensuring effective monitoring of impact performance throughout.
  • Collaborate with portfolio companies to develop and enhance their impact measurement and reporting frameworks, driving transparency and accountability.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, impact measurement methodologies, and regulatory developments related to impact investing, providing thought leadership and strategic guidance to the firm and its portfolio companies.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, including investors, fund managers, and industry networks, to expand the firm’s impact investment network and identify new opportunities.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the impact investment team, providing mentorship and guidance to junior team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Finance, Economics, Sustainable Development). Advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in impact investing, private equity, or related fields, with a strong track record of managing successful impact investment portfolios.
  • Deep understanding of impact investing principles, frameworks, and impact measurement methodologies.
  • Proven ability to identify and evaluate investment opportunities, conduct due diligence, and negotiate investment terms.
  • Strong financial modeling and analysis skills, with a solid understanding of investment valuation techniques and financial performance indicators.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple investment projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset and ability to navigate complex investment landscapes.
  • Demonstrated passion for impact investing and a genuine commitment to creating positive social and environmental change through investment practices.
