Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Sustainable Finance Manager to join a renowned Financial Institution in New York. In this role, you will lead the assessment and management of financial transactions to ensure compliance with environmental and social sustainability standards, local and international regulations, and alignment with their organisation’s sustainable finance objectives.

You will collaborate closely with relationship managers, credit teams, and clients to identify and address sustainability compliance gaps, develop actionable recommendations, and embed sustainability considerations into financing arrangements. Additionally, you will monitor environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance across our portfolio, supporting the growth and integrity of our sustainable finance initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Environmental and Social Risk Management System (ESRMS) and Sustainable Finance Framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory changes and corporate strategy.
  • Provide expert guidance on environmental and social impact assessments and sustainability risks associated with financial transactions.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence focused on environmental and social safeguards for underwriting and financing activities.
  • Identify and evaluate social and environmental risks in transactions, ensuring clear communication to internal stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Report on sustainable finance best practices and contribute to knowledge sharing across the organisation.
  • Support business units and the Sustainability Committee with education, communication, and implementation of sustainability policies and goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Environmental Science, or a related discipline; advanced degrees such as an MBA, Master’s in Finance, or Master’s in Sustainability are preferred.
  • CPA, CFA, or equivalent financial certification is highly desirable.
  • 7 years of relevant experience in financial services, with a focus on banking or sustainable finance sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of sustainability regulations, ESG frameworks, and best practices.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex financial and sustainability data and communicate findings clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Leadership experience or subject matter expertise in sustainable finance is a plus.
