Role overview:

Our client is a developer and engineering company specialising in renewable energy and energy storage solutions, with an active presence in the UAE market. They are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Renewable Energy & Energy Storage to lead the delivery of complex, multi-stakeholder projects across solar PV, wind energy, and battery energy storage systems (BESS), with additional exposure to high-tech infrastructure sectors such as telecommunications to clients.

The successful candidate will have transitioned from a technical engineering background into project management, maintaining a deep understanding of the underlying technologies, with a proven track record of delivering projects from conception through to implementation. This is open to professionals currently based in Dubai with a strong understanding of local market dynamics, as well as highly motivated candidates ready to relocate to the United Arab Emirates. For relocation candidates, previous international experience across European or Asian markets is highly desirable. Possession of the DEWA Solar PV Expert certification is mandatory.

Job Responsibilities

Project Management & Delivery

  • Lead large-scale renewable energy and energy storage projects from development through to commissioning
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and cross-functional teams comprising researchers, engineers, and external partners
  • Oversee the development and assembly of specialised equipment and manage the scale-up of new technologies from laboratory to industrial application
  • Ensure seamless integration of new technologies with existing processes and infrastructure

 

Technical Oversight

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across solar PV, wind energy, and BESS projects
  • Oversee system architecture, integration, and commissioning of battery energy storage systems
  • Ensure compliance with grid connection requirements and power conversion standards
  • Bridge the gap between complex electrical engineering and practical project delivery for the client

 

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Management

  • Manage relationships across a broad set of internal and external stakeholders including clients, regulators, and technology partners
  • Translate complex technical concepts clearly for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Align technical project goals with broader commercial and sustainability objectives

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of dedicated project management experience in the renewable energy sector, with substantial exposure to solar PV, wind energy, and BESS
  • Must have transitioned from a technical engineering role into project management, maintaining a deep understanding of the underlying technologies
  • Hands-on experience or deep working knowledge of BESS, including system architecture, integration, and commissioning
  • Familiarity with solar PV and wind energy infrastructure, electrical components (inverters, transformers, switchgear, cabling), grid connection requirements, and power conversion systems
  • Strong understanding of energy market dynamics 
  • DEWA Solar PV Expert certification mandatory
  • Strong understanding of the Dubai and broader UAE market dynamics
  • Professional proficiency in English

 

The following is advantageous:

  • Understanding of Battery Management Systems (BMS), energy management software, and grid-scale storage deployment
  • Familiarity with advanced materials synthesis and manufacturing scale-up 
  • Experience in related high-tech infrastructure fields such as telecommunications
  • Experience managing internationally funded or grant-funded projects
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, innovative environments and adapt to rapidly evolving technologies 
  • Additional languages (Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, or German) are a plus

 

Education & Certifications 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Power Engineering, or Materials Science
  • Degrees from recognised, high-calibre technical universities are preferred
  • Continuous learning and professional development, evidenced by recent coursework in advanced topics, is highly valued

 

Professional Certifications 

While not strictly mandatory, professional certifications demonstrate a commitment to the field and a standardised approach to project management. Preferred certifications include:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent (e.g., PRINCE2)
  • Certified Renewable Energy Professional (REP)
  • BIM Collaborate Pro or certifications related to sustainable energy project management
