Job Description

A leading financial services advisory firm is seeking a Climate Change Consultant to support their climate and environmental risk advisory practice in London. This role is ideal for a technically strong and analytically minded professional with experience in climate risk, credit risk, and ESG-aligned regulatory frameworks.

You will work directly with financial institutions to assess climate-related risks, define business requirements, support regulatory reporting needs, and facilitate the delivery of technology-enabled climate solutions. The role combines sustainability subject-matter expertise with business analysis capabilities and cross-functional project delivery.

Job Responsibilities

Climate and credit risk analysis

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across risk, ESG, and sustainability teams to understand the impact of physical and transition climate risks on credit portfolios
  • Translate business needs into functional and technical requirements for ESG and climate risk projects
  • Support the integration of climate risk factors into credit risk assessment and stress testing frameworks 

Business requirements and project delivery

  • Prepare detailed business requirement documentation (BRDs), functional specifications, and use cases
  • Participate in solution design reviews with product and technology teams to ensure business objectives are met
  • Coordinate testing processes, including test case design, user acceptance testing (UAT), and go-live readiness 

Client engagement and regulatory alignment

  • Liaise with business users to deliver training and user support for newly implemented climate risk tools or frameworks
  • Monitor climate-related regulatory expectations (e.g., PRA/BoE, ECB, ISSB) and support clients in aligning reporting processes
  • Maintain high-quality project documentation, including FAQs, user manuals, and training materials

Qualifications

  • Degree in finance, economics, environmental science, or a related discipline
  • 5 years of experience in climate change risk, ESG risk advisory, or credit risk management
  • Strong understanding of physical and transition risks and their implications for financial institutions
  • Experience with business analysis processes, including BRD, FRD, and stakeholder coordination
  • Familiarity with climate-related regulatory frameworks and disclosure standards (e.g., TCFD, ISSB, ECB climate stress tests)
  • Proven ability to work in Agile environments and coordinate across business and technology teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels
