Climate Change Analyst, Banking, Dubai, UAE

We are actively seeking a Climate Change Analyst to join our client, a prominent UAE-based bank. This role is based in Dubai and offers a unique opportunity to support the Sustainability and ESG team in developing expertise and knowledge in key areas of climate change transition. As a Climate Change Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our client’s commitment to sustainability and ESG practices. Your primary responsibilities will involve extensive research and data analytics to facilitate a deep understanding of the latest developments in climate change knowledge and theory. You will be at the forefront of developing strategies and policies related to the bank’s impact on climate change.

Job Responsibilities

Research and Analysis: Stay updated on emerging trends, regulations, and advancements in climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies. Analyse scientific reports, policy documents, and industry publications to provide valuable insights to the Sustainability and ESG team.
Data Analytics: Collect, analyse, and interpret data related to the bank’s carbon footprint, greenhouse gas emissions, and other climate-related metrics. Use data-driven approaches to identify areas for improvement and guide decision-making processes.
Policy Development: Collaborate with the team to develop and implement climate change policies and initiatives. Assist in setting targets and KPIs related to carbon reduction and sustainability goals.
Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, industry associations, and sustainability experts, to ensure alignment with best practices in climate change management.
Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of sustainability and ESG reports, ensuring accurate and transparent disclosure of climate-related information to stakeholders, including investors and the public.
Education and Training: Support internal capacity-building efforts by providing training and knowledge sharing on climate change topics to bank employees.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, climate change, or related field. Advanced degrees and relevant certifications are a plus.
Proven experience in climate change analysis, sustainability, or ESG roles, preferably within the financial sector.
Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analytics tools.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex climate-related concepts to diverse audiences.
Familiarity with international climate agreements and reporting frameworks such as TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures).
Passion for sustainability and a commitment to driving positive change.
