Renewable Energy Business Developer – London, UK

Our client is a leading renewable energy provider delivering clean energy solutions to clients across Europe. As part of its expansion in the UK market, the organisation is seeking an experienced and driven Renewable Energy Business Developer to join its London-based team. This is a strategic and high-impact role for a commercially driven individual with proven experience in originating and advancing renewable energy projects.

As a Renewable Energy Business Developer, you will play a vital role in identifying new project opportunities, securing land agreements, and supporting early-stage project development, while working closely with internal teams and external partners to bring sustainable energy projects to life.

Job Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess new land opportunities for solar PV, onshore wind, and battery storage developments across the UK.
  • Lead negotiations with landowners and agents to secure lease and exclusivity agreements.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments including grid connection, site constraints, and planning potential.
  • Manage pre-consent development stages, from stakeholder engagement to submission of planning applications.
  • Coordinate with legal, engineering, environmental, and commercial teams across the organisation.
  • Monitor UK renewable energy policy developments, regulatory updates, and market dynamics.
  • Represent the company at public consultations, industry events, and local planning forums.
  • Support project financial modelling and contribute to internal investment proposals.
  • Manage external consultants, planning authorities, and development partners.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, Engineering, Geography, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 6 Years of Proven experience as a Renewable Energy Business Developer or equivalent project development role within the UK market.
  • Sound knowledge of land acquisition, planning application processes, and grid connection assessments.
  • Familiarity with solar PV, onshore wind, and battery energy storage technologies.
  • Understanding of CfD frameworks, corporate PPA structures, and the UK electricity market.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with GIS or mapping software is advantageous.
  • UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.
