Sustainable Governance and Compliance Manager, Banking, London, UK

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the bank’s sustainability governance framework and policies, ensuring alignment with global sustainability standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and assess the bank’s compliance with sustainability regulations, codes, and reporting frameworks such as the UN Principles for Responsible Banking (PRB) and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
  • Conduct regular sustainability risk assessments and advise on risk mitigation strategies, identifying ESG risks and opportunities across the bank’s operations, products, and services.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to embed sustainability practices into the bank’s corporate governance framework, ensuring proper oversight and accountability.
  • Support the preparation of sustainability reports and disclosures, ensuring accurate and transparent communication of the bank’s sustainability performance to stakeholders.
  • Stay up to date with emerging sustainability regulations, industry trends, and best practices, providing strategic guidance and recommendations to enhance the bank’s sustainability efforts.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, industry associations, and regulatory bodies to contribute to industry-wide sustainability initiatives and represent the bank’s interests.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Sustainability, Finance, Business) is required. Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CSR, ESG) are highly desirable.
  • Extensive experience in sustainability governance, compliance, or related roles within the banking or financial services sector.
  • Strong knowledge of global sustainability frameworks, regulations, and reporting standards (e.g., Global Reporting Initiative, Sustainable Development Goals).
  • Familiarity with sustainability risk management, climate-related financial disclosures, and responsible investment practices.
  • Excellent understanding of sustainable finance principles and experience integrating ESG factors into investment decision-making processes.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing sustainability governance frameworks and policies within a regulated environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess and mitigate sustainability risks and identify opportunities for value creation.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities, with the capacity to engage with internal and external stakeholders at various levels.
  • Ability to drive change and influence decision-making processes, fostering a culture of sustainability and responsible banking.
