Our client is a leading player in the global commodities, carbon trading and clean energy markets, with a strong focus on developing innovative, market-based solutions that enable end-to-end sustainable decarbonisation. Operating across carbon markets, renewable energy, and clean fuels, the business works with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to drive meaningful progress on the energy transition. As part of continued growth in the EMEA region, our client is looking to strengthen its R&D and sustainability function with a senior regulatory and product development hire.

The Role
Our client is seeking to recruit an R&D Product Manager to lead the development of innovative clean energy products for the EMEA region, with a primary emphasis on Europe. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating complex regulatory developments and sustainability standards into commercially viable market-based products, while managing and developing a team of specialists in regulation and environmental product development.

The role is based in Amsterdam on a hybrid working model and requires occasional travel within Europe and internationally.

Job Responsibilities

Product Development & Regulatory Strategy

  • Develop and deliver a complex portfolio of innovative clean energy products for the EMEA region, informed by regional and national regulatory developments and sustainability standards
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory intelligence across carbon markets, renewable energy, and clean fuels to identify new product opportunities
  • Share deep technical understanding of supply and demand fundamentals of carbon and renewable energy markets with internal and external stakeholders

 

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage and develop a team of experts in regulation and environmental product development focused on the EMEA region
  • Motivate, nurture, and develop a talented team of specialists to deliver high-quality outputs in a dynamic, fast-moving environment

 

Commercial & Stakeholder Support

  • Facilitate transactions and provide direct support to commercial teams across the business
  • Provide input into industry and regulatory processes relevant to the EMEA region
  • Collaborate globally on product development with other regional R&D teams and internal stakeholders as appropriate

 

External Representation

  • Represent the organisation at trade association meetings, exhibitions, and conferences
  • Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders across regulatory bodies, industry groups, and market participants

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of work experience providing a deep understanding of clean energy regulation markets in the EMEA region, spanning renewable energy, fuels, and carbon markets, is mandatory
  • High commercial acumen with a strong track record of using regulatory developments to inform the creation of new market-based products
  • Proven ability to develop, motivate, and nurture a talented team of specialists
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • A commercial and creative mindset with strong collaboration skills across functions and geographies
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; additional fluency in French, German, or Italian is a significant advantage
  • University educated, ideally with a postgraduate qualification having a strong analytical component
